What TTML stores

TTML (Timed Text Markup Language) is the W3C's XML format for timed text. Each lyric line is a <p> with a begin and end time. For word-synced lyrics, every word sits inside the line as its own <span> with its own begin and end, so a player can light words up as they are sung.

Choose line timing for one paragraph per line, or word timing for a span on every word. Unlike plain LRC, each word carries a real end time.

Where TTML is used

Word-synced lyric displays in music apps are commonly built on TTML, and it is a standard caption format for broadcast and streaming. Delivery specs vary by platform and distributor, so check what yours asks for before you submit a file.

For a music player, use the LRC generator. For a video editor, use the SRT lyrics generator.

Common questions

Can TTML hold word-by-word timing?

Yes. Each word becomes a span with its own begin and end time inside the line. Choose word timing in LyriSync before exporting.

Does LyriSync find the lyrics for me?

No. LyriSync does not fetch or transcribe lyrics. You paste lyrics you have the right to use, and it times those exact words to your track.

Is the TTML file ready for Apple Music?

LyriSync writes standard TTML with line and word timing. Platforms and distributors set their own delivery requirements, so check their spec before submitting.
